Alan Hinde's early interest in writing music was for piano but, with the advent of modern digital instruments, he quickly branched out into a number of keyboard-based styles including classical, jazz, new-age, and music for relaxation, meditation and inner peace. He has played at 'new-age' seminars in Australia presented by visiting American lecturers Stuart Wild and Denise Linn, and played for Denise Linn during some of her workshops. He has also played at concerts in the beautiful setting of the Abercrombie Caves in N.S.W. His latest interests include creating musical images, the equivalent of a landscape artist expressing a love of nature, using digitally created orchestral textures and instrumental ensembles. He derives inspiration from the beauty and the many moods of nature as well as from inspired 'word pictures' and fantasy novels and believes that music is a great medium to stimulate the imagination and conjure fantastic scenes, journeys and other worlds as well as provide healing and relaxation benefits. Landscape painting and poetry are another of his interests and these have been incorporated into the overall concept of the 'Bubbling Cascade' album by using an original watercolour painting for the cover and original poems to accompany some of the tracks. Other albums and compositions include: 'Journey to the Tower of Light' - an album depicting a journey in the tradition of King Arthur or Lord of the Rings; 'The Twilight of Dreams' - an album of music for meditation; a number of 'word pictures in music' including 'Snow', 'Sherbrooke Forest', 'The Diamonds'; and orchestral music including 'Symphonic Sketch - The Changing Face of Planet Earth'; a movement for piano and orchestra and a movement for viola and orchestra. |
