Believe is written and performed by Brandee Nielsen, produced by Julian Camaz and co-produced by Brandee Nielsen, Believe will take you on a thought provoking journey through a fusion of uplifting lyrics set to sounds that cross pop, rock, contemporary, country and acoustic blended styles.
The music is powerful with strong melodies and driving rhythms that carry a colorful, wide-ranged female vocal such as in "Move On (Trust God)", "Jesus Loves You" and "The Truth".
Each of the 10 tracks offers a unique style and message, as Brandee Nielsen engages her divine gift of music, her powerful expressive voice, and her experiences with overcoming life's challenges as an ACOA (Adult Child of an Alcoholic), to uplift and encourage others to Believe that through faith, there is nothing you cannot overcome.
The story behind the making of Believe begins a decade before its release, during a time in the life of the artist when she embraced her belief in God. Brandee had decided it was time to make good on her childhood promise to create songs that would encourage others to embrace life, no matter the difficult challenges they might face, believing that God has a greater purpose.
As Brandee began to contemplate writing 10 new songs for an inspirational album, she penned and released the initial version of "I'm Alive," but omitted God from the lyrics, believing the song would reach more people who might turn away at the mention of God or the name of Jesus. Believing this was the right decision, Brandee decided to create the album based on this principal, and penned another song titled "Touch the Face of the World," to help benefit the challenged life of a woman who suffered a brain aneurysm. Again Brandee omitted God from the lyrics. Soon after releasing the two songs on an EP to help raise funds to benefit the life of the woman, Brandee's life began to change drastically as she continued to omit God from her conversations, thoughts and eventually from all aspects of her life, and abandoned the inspirational music project altogether. Though she continued her aspirations in creating music, now with messages that pushed the envelope of promiscuity—among other things, Brandee began to embrace a self-centered life, indulgence, vanity and alcohol. Over time her personal life continued to spiral downward as she fell deeper into alcohol, hiding her addiction from others, and landing herself in unhealthy, threatening relationships clenched in abuse, betrayal and extreme codependence. Finally, after a decade of darkness, Brandee found herself standing at the edge of the same pool of alcoholism that claimed her mother's life, where she was met unexpectedly by the Holy Spirit, and given a choice to grasp her childhood promise and live her life on God's purpose, else fall into the pool and drown.
Believe is the result of Brandee's choice, released almost one year after grasping the hand of God, who pulled her out of the darkness and inspired her to re-write the song "I'm Alive" to include His name, and finish the project that once captured her passion and purpose, now reborn in Believe.
Brandee has taken her task further by publishing an autobiography titled Unforgotten, which tells her life story in riveting detail, as well as having established The Believe In Christ Foundation, committed to doing God’s will.
