CHARIVNA from Ukraine

Artist History

"Charivna" (Enchanted) was created in Ukraine city Kharkov.
This group sings different kinds of songs such as Ukrainian folk, old romances and modern songs of famous international composers. Arrangement and jazz harmonies make unique original sound of each song.
"Charivna" has individual style of performing and singing. This is one of the first Ukrainian groups which mixed folk traditions with modern style. Members of the group play acoustic instruments. This fact shows their high class of education and big talent.
"Charivna" participated in different kinds of festivals, contests and concerts around the World; received awards and nominations in Ukrainian festival "Singing Vernissage" and international contest "Golden Trumpets"; performed in Germany; participated on Ukrainian - American Heritage month in Cincinnati and throughout the North America. "Charivna" received Nomination for Ukrainian folk song "SHEDRIK" (Carol of the Bells) a capella from Just Plain Folks Music Organization. Awards Song Nominees.
"Charivna" has huge inheritance of different kinds of songs. ART of this group brings positive influence in Ukrainian and other different cultures.

The Ukrainian group Charivna performs on Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati in conjunction with the Sister City project and the Middfest international fair in Middletown.

Classical WGUC-FM 90.9 and The Cincinnati-Kharkov Sister City Project present Ekimi in Concert with Kharkov Finest Cincinnati Art Museum Auditorium. "Charivna" vocal quartet - Tatiana Maslak, Oksana Yushkova Svetlana Kovalenko, Elena Alenkina. Classical WGUC-FM 90.9, public radio from the University of Cincinnati, is affiliated with American Public Radio, National Public Radio and Ohio Public Radio. The station broadcasts classical music, news and information programming and jazz. WGUC is recordinq this concert for future broadcast.
