Chris DeMarco from Georgia

Artist History

Chris DeMarco began his career in music as a much sought-after musician and band front man, having shared the stage and played with a virtual who’s who of super-musicians of the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. After deciding to leave behind the glare of the bright lights of Hollywood and the ever-pulsing New York music scene, DeMarco settled into the cadence of more laid back climes that now finds him at his most serene self. He now has two CDs on his self-distributed label Dreamco Music and shows himself to be in fine musical form as he treats us to a volume of classic fare meant to please the true Rock aficionados among us.

The latest CD is simply called "Chris DeMarco - The 80's". The songs on the new CD were recorded in New York in the 1980's and have now been released for the first time. If you are a fan of 80's music, you are in for a real treat! Some of the great musicians who played on these tracks include Bob Kulick (KISS, Meatloaf), Doug Katsaros (Aerosmith, BonJovi, Elton John), Thommy Price (Billy Idol, Ron Wood, Blue Oyster Cult), and Yogi Horton (John Lennon, Aretha Franklin, The B-52’s).

”Lost and Found” is an aptly named album that weaves together DeMarco’s past and present musical contributions into one cohesive work, featuring Dick Wagner (Alice Cooper Band), Tommy Talton (Gregg Allman Band and Cowboy), Ken Mazur (Robert Palmer Band), and Barry Richman (Lynard Skynard) on Guitar; Billy Langley, keyboards; Rhys Clark (Billy Joel Band and Freddy Fender Band) playing drums; and Jim Fielder (Buffalo Springfield, Blood Sweat and Tears and Neil Sedaka) on Bass. Billy Joel and Michael Monarch (Steppenwolf) appear on the bonus track Sail Away.

Chris DeMarco, whose experience in the entertainment industry spans over four decades, has also given his musical influence to documentaries, television and radio commercials as well as two film scores. Troma's War released in 1988 by Troma Entertainment featured music composed and produced by DeMarco, including the title track "Alive". (Chris also played a terrorist in a short scene!) Toxic Avenger III - The Last Temptation of Toxie was released in 1989 (also by Troma Entertainment) and boasted music composed and produced by Chris DeMarco based on music by Antonin Dvorak.

Selections from both CDs are on the playlists of many radio stations and podcasts in the US and around the world.

Currently residing in the Atlanta, Georgia area, Chris DeMarco has proven his mettle as a legitimate artist time and time again. From his glory days as a front man for the Island Records recording act Riff Raff, which he formed in 1977, to his contributions to the work of the legendary cadre of musicians he also calls friends, Chris DeMarco’s music and artistry has stood the test of time. Still in his musical prime, and uncompromising in his commitment to making excellent music, he is without a doubt the stuff legends are made of.

You can find Chris DeMarco’s Lost and Found on iTunes and Napster, among other sites, and the physical CDs can be purchased through CD Baby or Chris's official website.

Rockin' Marietta

Published: 06/26/2009

Classic rock musician Chris DeMarco and The Chris DeMarco Band will open at one of Marietta's newest music venues, The Scene (2854 Delk Road on July 10 at 9 p.m.) In addition to vocals, DeMarco plays guitar and harmonica. Band members include Dell Bolos and Jerry Sorn on guitar, Reggie Dantzler on bass, Dave James on Keyboards and Brandon Thompson on drums. Price of admission is $10 in advance, $12 the night of the show. For advance tickets, visit www.chrisdemarco.com/store.html. The venue is for "all ages," but concertgoers over age 21 have the option of purchasing drinks by obtaining a colored bracelet.

DeMarco's interest in music began when he met and played with a small blues band while in school in Los Angeles. When his sister married the bass player of Blood, Sweet and Tears, "I got to meet those guys and began thinking about a singing profession," says DeMarco. His musical career evolved, with a short interlude in acting, taking him to New York, Boston, Europe and back to L.A., where he connected with a who's who of people in the music industry.

Two shows done, and new tour t-shirt!
POSTED BY: Chris DeMarco POSTED ON: 26 Apr 2009 08:33 PM

Happy to report that my first two shows went well.  There was not a great turnout at Smith's Olde Bar, it was Monday after Easter and there had been major storms knocking people's power out all over Atlanta.  It was a good "dress rehearsal" for the band anyway and the people who came enjoyed the show.  Yesterday at Trilogy in Marietta we had a much better crowd, around 120 people, and I appreciate all the friends who came out to support me and the band!

The new t-shirts are here, Chris DeMarco Band 2009 Tour shirts by Bay Island.  Soft "slim fit" 100% cotton.  Available at shows or from my official web store at http://www.chrisdemarco.com/store.html.

A couple of new videos posted on YouTube and MySpace, from the show at Smith's Olde Bar.  Hope to see you at a future gig - next one on the schedule will be in Loganville, Georgia at a club called @tmosphere. Then Tasty World in Athens, Georgia. See you there!

"Chris DeMarco-The 80's" by Chris DeMarco (Rock Artist from Georgia(GA))
POSTED BY: momof5pacs POSTED ON: 08 Apr 2009 05:29 PM

RadioIndy is pleased to present Chris DeMarco with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Chris DeMarco-The 80’s"

Chris DeMarco's most recent self titled release, “Chris DeMarco-The 80’s” is an album that re-invents the upbeat classic pop rock music of that era. DeMarco, a seasoned veteran of music who has performed with various well known artists, has decided to debut his works originally recorded in the 1980’s. These catchy pop styles are splashed with light lyrics over striking guitar riffs while keyboards add a touch of pop orchestration. DeMarco’s vocals are melodic and rich, exhibiting his polished, strong and distinct voice. Note the high harmonies on “The Same Old Way” and also on “One More Shot." They are undoubtedly a staple of ‘80’s pop. Rock-hard drums streaming with solid fills and edgy guitar licks reach well beyond their roots on “The Mirror.” If you like music that captures the essence of 80's pop/rock, “Chris DeMarco-The 80’s” is a CD well worth listening to.

DeMarco finds heart of classic rock ‘n’ roll

True rock aficionados will know Chris DeMarco.  Unfortunately most won't. You should.  He was a sought-after musician in the 70's and 80's. On his CD Lost and Found he has a who's who of rock artists helping out. It features Dick Wagner (Alice Cooper Band), Tommy Talton (Gregg Allman Band), Ken Mazur (Robert Palmer Band), Barry Richman (Skynyrd), Rhys Clark (Billy Joel) and Jim Fielder (Buffalo Springfield).

Back in 1977 Chris was the front-man for Riff Raff.  In the day he was an important part of the Hollywood music scene. But he grew tired of the life, and has settled in Atlanta.

Lost and Found is a complex mix of the bluesy, "Out of the Blue," the arena-like Journey rock "Can't Go Home Again;" the quirkly story song "Love and Murder" to the sensitive, delicate cadence of "The Quiet of the Rain."

I especially liked the slow rocking "It's Inevitable" and the love ballad "When It's Gone."

If you like original rock, give Chris a try. You can get the CD from CD Baby or at www.chrisdemarco.com

Great review from Consequence of Sound!
POSTED BY: Chris DeMarco POSTED ON: 11 Sep 2008 07:03 PM

With all of these nostalgic acts popping up, it's nice to see someone else take it to another level.

Chris DeMarco's style is lodged somewhere between Peter Frampton and Buffalo Springfield, without a talkbox.  With classic rock and 80s seeping through, he would have fit well into a tour with the likes of Boston, and this man is truly comes off as comfortable in his own skin.

Pure positivity pours out of this man's music - with Styx-like bombast in the chorus for "Sail Away", and a David Gilmour-esque atmosphere present in "It's Inevitable".

His album, Lost and Found, consistently "weaves together past and present" with appearances from members of bands such as Steppenwolf, Cowboy, Alice Cooper, and even Lynyrd Skynyrd.  The 70s and 80s sound shine through on this wonderful album, and for a fan of any band mentioned in this article - DeMarco will make you feel right at home.

"Lost and Found" Reviewed by RadioIndy.com!
POSTED BY: EricLawrence POSTED ON: 16 Mar 2008 08:21 PM
"Lost and Found" by Chris Demarco is a heart warming contemporary rock album. Chris' vocals are rich and have a nice depth to them. The accompanying arrangements are softly driving and contain subtle variances, including a hint of country from time to time. The musicianship and production throughout the CD are very professional. "Love and Murder" is a fun track with spoken word and a 40's sound with a little twang. "I Don't Wanna Wake Up" is a "song about a girl" with a light Island sound. "Sail Away" features some nice vibrato and range in the vocals and leaves you with a sense of hope. If you enjoy softer adult rock, you'll enjoy this CD
