Drew Pizzulo- A Moment Can Change Everything

By Heather Savage  //  Music  //  Rating: 7 of 10 stars

Have ever wondered how talented some of the American Idol contestants were that didn’t make it to Hollywood? I understand it can be challenging for an American Idol Judge to make a quick decision within 30 seconds. New Jersey based artist/model Drew Pizzulo is a Season 6 contestant that didn’t make the grade, but since that time has given hundreds of live performances of both original and cover material in the USA and international cruise lines. As a solo artist, Pizzulo has released 10 international albums of original material. His Internet chart success includes well over a dozen #1 hits, along with several other Top 10 singles and he has been writing music since the age of 8.It’s truly amazing what Pizzulo has done over the years and on his latest release entitled “A Moment Can Change Everything”. I’ve never had an artist suck me in quite like this one did – refusing to let go and calling me back after it was complete. The music just flows like a river via an invigorating vocal front and an addictive pop, rock driven vibe that is comparable to a modern-day Barry Manilow or even Babyface.  There is also an undeniable Jazz-Pop quality to this CD as well that is painfully simple yet brilliantly crafted. The CD works its magic when you just let go and roll with the melodies. You never know what’s around the next corner as the CD touches a wide range of emotions. The music not so commercially viable due to the overall sound quality, but amazing witty and clever nonetheless. What I like most about the CD is Pizzulo’s’X-Factor. When he sings he has it – a undeniable passion play quality that will have many females sitting on the edge of their I-Pods. Oh did I mention Pizzulo is a professional model? Not every square inch is filled with a mundane vocal delivery under duress – but space that allows the CD to just breathe. Did I mention Pizzulo is a professional model?

Criticism: The overall sound quality is a bit fuzzy and somewhat foggy. The songs are amazing but the overall clarity of the catalogue has a lot to be desired. It simply doesn’t stack up when compared to other professional grade releases out there right now.

Favorite Track: Title track and ‘Dancing Alone”

“A Moment Can Change Everything” by Drew Pizzulo is an endearing album limited by nothing. It is painfully simple but brilliant in its delivery. I would imagine as time goes by we will hear more from this powerful artist from New Jersey. It’s a true statement that every now and then even American Idol can get it wrong.

CD Review: New Jersey based singr/songwriter Drew Pizzulo just released his latest CD entitled “A Moment Can Change Everything” in 2012. Reading from their bio:  A former season 6 American Idol contestant, Drew has given hundreds of live performances of both original and cover material in the USA and international cruise lines. Since Pizzulo does not play an instrument, he chose to work with talented professional studio musicians Anderson Barbosa, Donnie Klang and Rick Barclay in creating background arrangements for his original solo work.

The CD gently takes flight with the title track “A Moment Can Change Everything” a smooth flowing intro piece that serves up a delicate piano driven groove against inviting melody and passionate vocals from Pizzulo. This first is quite dynamic as it flows and ebbs its way through to emotional fruition. Track 2 “Left Out” shifts gears a bit with its heartfelt vocal delivery from Pizzulo against steady flowing rhythm, smooth melodic guitar ambience and grand slam chorus making for an impressive follow up ballad. Track 3 “A Love Song” Keeps thing moving in the right direction with its striking vocal intro, gradually building into an impressive ballad with thought provoking lyrical content and passionate vocal finale. The CD makes a great first impression dashing out 3 solid songs in a row. The musicianship of everyone involved is clearly above the bar. Along the way you will notice lush instrumentation with things inviting Piano, impressive guitar licks and solos, Hammond Organ and Keyboard accents, and violin painted against the 4 piece standard. Now turning our attention over to Pizzulo - as for his vocal abilities, his voice works extremely well within the confines of this catalogue. His voice goes down smooth and fills the space peacefully and unobtrusively. I suspect some of his vocal influences are Jason Mraz, Daren Hayes (SavageGarden) and Michael Buble. All songs are extremely well crafted and consistent across the board. This CD from Drew Pizzulo delivers 12 solid tracks all providing thought provoking wisdom with messages that are uplifting, passionate and positive. From grooving “I Need Love” to heartfelt “Dancing Alone” and “Can’t Stop” to melodic “Am I’ and Catch 22”  to seductive “Sleep Together” this CD pretty much has something for just about everyone. The CD ends with track 12: “Nothing More to Say” the perfect finale statement for a CD of this caliber.

From start to finish “A Moment Can Change Everything” is a consistent and heartfelt collection of music from Drew Pizzulo. The music is highly passionate, uplifting, and extremely passionate. The songwriting – world class, all consistent musical experiences, each one possessing a unique personality, flair, and signature groove. Note for note, song for song there isn’t really weak piece on this entire CD. The writing and playing abilities of Drew Pizzulo are rock solid, the melodies are effective and will tug at your heart strings. The  lyrical content is packed to the hilt with conventional wisdom and messages of hope, love and the passion of life itself.

New Jersey based artist Drew Pizzulo just released his latest CD entitled “A Moment Can Change Everything” in 2012. Reading his bio: Pizullo has built an impressive musical resume for himself over the years. Apart from being a former season 6 American Idol contestant, Drew has made a name for himself on international cruise lines and has released 10 CD’s thus far. .

This is not the first we’ve heard from Pizzulo, infact anyone who can release 10 albums internationally including Top 10 Singles (Betarecords.com, Pittradio.com and Radioindy.com) is clearly a force to reckoned with. His latest release has much to commend them. Admittedly, there’s a whole lot of variety to these arrangements and performances. First: the line up consisting of many solid production folks including studio musicians Anderson Barbosa, Donnie Klang and Rick Barclay. Second: His look and spirit will no doubt mystify many females as he is a professional model by day, singer by night. If you don’t think that‘s an important factor to consider when evaluation pop talent guess again. Third: his voice possessing a appealing Baritone and top flight passion play hits the spot. Let’s be honest for a second – this genera is not known for its amazing vocal performances. But Pizullo’s voice has power, raw emotion and a smooth as silk timber via an impressive song line-up. All of the above make for very deadly combination. Even more impressive is the music itself which delivers a nice modern day dance vibe. I honestly can hear some of this on the Radio this Summer. I like how there is no attempt to deliver what I call over the top pop with nothing more than a boy band face and fancy choreography. That ship has sailed, now it’s time for something new. Drew Pizzulo is an artists that goes above that.

What’s an American Idol Winner got that Drew Pizullo doesn’t got? Not much. With all due respect Drew Pizullo has got the look, sound, voice, songs and staying power in the industry to grab mass appeal He’s clearly a heart-throb pop-sensation waiting to happen. His music is powerful and entertaining. Yes – I could hear this at a party, club or on the radio today. Yes – I could go on all day about this guy. So what are we waiting for? Good question – Drew Pizzulo that’s who. He’s got what it takes to occupy a special place in your heart.

Overall Rating – 8/10

The Artist I recently checked out the latest CD from singer/songwriter Drew Pizzulo entitled RA Moment Can Change Everything (2012). Pizzulo hails from New Jersey this is his eleventh release thus far.

The bandThe playing abilities of Pizzulo's session players are pretty solid across the board. I would say they possess intermediate playing abilities and above average writing abilities. Timing seems to be spot on within the indie-pop grooves. Pizzolo's voice is effective and appealing as he delivers many solid vocal performances that match the indie-pop style of music perfectly. The music Upbeat, funny, interesting, thought provoking, melodic and highly passionate. Musical textures reminiscent of Air Supply, Jack Johnson,  Rob Thomas, Kenny Loggins – anything pop with a passionate edge. If you like those kinds of artists you will no doubt get a kick out of this CD. The songs Above average songs. Very simple yet effective, conservative, highly original and passionate It strikes the prefect balance between alternative and just a dash of earthy-Indie folk. Pizzulo and  company  are clearly being themselves as songwriters and performers and this is what comes out of the other end. My favorite song on the CD is the "dancing Alone." The vibe Great vibe. Perfect for the ladies, late night college parties, coffeehouses, or even magazine shops. The production gets it's point across. Honorable mentions go out to amazing vocal appeal of Drew Pizzulo. He is clearly a sex symbol and I give him high marks for being in the business this longs and not being afraid to let it all hang out musically. Pizzulo is not trying to be some popish artist striving for mass appeal – he’s just being himself. This CD refuses to try to hard – that’s what makes it so amazing The good Very likeable, marketable record – amazing songs, fun to listen to. The bad Wish there was a tad more instrumentation to give the music a bit more production value. CD lacks brightness and fullness. The ugly Nothing to report.

The verdictA Moment Can Change Everything by Drew Pizzulo is a rock solid release. The songwriting is clearly above average. The production gets it’s point across. Again  the most amazing thing about this CD is Pizzulo's sexual magnetism. He’s clearly a premier talent. Fans of carefree Pop-Rock will love this CD no doubt. The gals will love him for all that he is.
