EJ Strong's "Live in Houston" is a funkified high-energy gospel album that definitely "takes you to church". The spirit of the band is certainly captured on these tracks and the songs are rich and soulful. EJ's voice booms and every ounce of energy is put into every single word. You can't ignore the back up singers too. They mean business. Combine that with a tight band and lively arrangements, and “we have a winner”. Highlights are the opener "For The Rest of My Days". It sets a memorable tone, starts off with a message and pumps up the room quickly. Although "Just Wanna Tell Ya" delivers praises the lord, the backup singers deserve some praises for this one. "Stay Focused" is another song with a strong message and features a hot guitar intro and another strong vocal performance. If you like Gospel, pick this one up.
