Grave Forsaken is the premier Christian metal band in Perth, Western Austalia and a leading band in the genre Australia wide. They play a traditional brand of heavy metal with strong thrash influences. Grave Forsaken is signed with Melbourne label Rowe Productions and have released an EP, two albums and a single. Grave Forsaken has played many shows in and around Perth, as well as undertaking eastern states tours in 2006 and 2007. Grave Forsaken have played alongside Christian metal legends Mortification and Paramaecium, as well as other well known Australian Christian acts such as Fearscape, Teramaze and Synnove. The band has twice performed at the prestigious Black Stump Festival in New South Wales alongside many of Australia’s leading Christian bands.Grave Forsaken began in 2004 when four friends decided to start a Christian metal band. That nucleus of Vaughan Gregory (guitar/vocals), Elias Salmela (guitar), Matt Skipworth (bass) and Tim Steadman (drums) remains intact to this day. The only line up change has seen Dave Kilgallon take over from Tim on drums, with Tim in turn replacing Vaughan as lead vocalist. This line up is taking the band to a new level of thrash intensity that already has heads turning.In 2005 Grave Forsaken released their self titled EP. Recorded on a PC, the band initially offered the EP for free. Greater than expected demand saw the EP distributed to over 300 metalheads worldwide. On the strength of the EP, Grave Forsaken were offered a deal with Melbourne Christian label Rowe Productions, home of one of the world’s best known Christian metal bands – Mortification. A support slot on Mortification’s 2006 Perth Tour gave Grave Forsaken great recognition in the worldwide Christian metal scene, as well as increased live opportunities in Perth and around Australia. In September 2006, Grave Forsaken released their debut album “Beside The River Of Blood” to a packed tent at the Black Stump Festival in New South Wales. Positive reviews and strong sales ensued, and the band profile was raised even further.In 2007 the band released new single “Horror And Sadness” on Rowe Productions. The first song from the brutal 2nd second album "Destined For Ascension", the single showcased a tighter and more confident band, bouyed by their recent success. Working with maestro producer Daniel Holmes, the band unleashed the second album on an expectant metal scene in early 2008. Faster, heavier and more complex, the new Grave Forsaken material has continued Grave Forsaken's rise into the upper echelon of the worldwide Chrtistian metal scene.Always looking to push forward, the core of Grave Forsaken’s purpose is to help inspire metal fans in their home city of Perth with a positive message. Although proclaiming a strongly evangelistic stance, the band has a strong sensitivity and respect for the audience. This has seen Grave Forsaken play their brand of high octane Christian metal to strong positive reaction in pubs and clubs across Australia.
