Jessica Shepherd’s 2009 release is a well-rounded exploitation of all her natural skills.  Jessica’s voice is powerful and true.  This disc runs through Shepherd’s genre repertoire from folk to country and some blues feel as well.  She pens or co-writes most of the album.  Well-produced, the album is a great representation of the studio side of Shepherd’s music.  Her live shows are full of energy, so you’ll want to catch one when you can.  Jessica Shepherd is a TMA nominated (2009 with Rockin’ Gospel Project) MyTexasMusic Platinum member and you will be an instant fan.  Give a listen.

Previous notes:
Jessica Shepherd spent a number of years in Houston trying to kick-start her music career.  When she felt it wasn’t going as expected, she made the move to Austin, Texas like so many before her.  Shepherd’s trip was different from that of the hoards of musicians who believe Austin to be the ‘mecca’ of independent music.  In her case, the move actually worked.  Since making the trek, Jessica Shepherd has become a sought-after performer with a blossoming career.  Shepherd’s voice is bold and confident, delivering well-told stories with grace and refreshing dynamics.  She’s as much at home crooning a country ballad as she is caressing a great folk tune.  You’ll hear hints of both without an overdose of either in her music.  A great buy for Texas music lovers.
