Jennifer Kowa - Vocals, Bass, Drums
Win Kowa - Guitars, Keyboards
KOWA are multi-award winning film and television composers, songwriters, producers and professional musicians for more than 25 years. They were Endorsers for Roland and Sennheiser, touring all over Europe in the eighties and became one of the interesting artists for easy listening and world music over the last 15 years.
IC-Digit, record label once founded by Klaus Schulze offered KOWA a worldwide record deal. 3 Instrumental CDs named WIN KOWA (Discovery Drive, Touchdown and Imagination) were released from 1992-1995. For the idea to involve Jennifer's exceptional voice - non lingual - as an instrument, they responded a lot of appreciation. In consequence of all those positive reactions 2 CDs, now named KOWA (African Moments and Nippon Moments) were produced in 1996 and 1997. Jennifer's voice supported by African friends and other Ethno musicians completed the brilliant combination of interesting voice design and remarkable guitar solos. In 2000 they produced the last CD (American Moments) for IC-Digit. You can find the music of KOWA on many compilations like Cafe del Mar, Cafe del Sol and special editions with artists like Dido, Vangelis, Kitaro, Mike Oldfield, Andy Summers etc. all over the world.
At the same time KOWA went on producing commercials for international campaigns. They achieved awards all over the world. The Gold Comprix in London, the Golden Award of Montreux and Finalist of the Golden Globe in New York. Yahoo’s Launch.com voted Win Kowa one of the progessive artists in 2000 in their top-list.
In June 2007 KOWA released their Album Gemini on their own label ROUGE RECORDS. In January 2008 they released their Album Scoring Tools. In January 2009 they released their new Album Times of Television. This 9th Album of KOWA is definitely their masterpiece. Times of Television is emotional world music featuring guitar to create your own motion picture in your imagination.
In September 2009 KOWA released Discovery Drive-Remastered
In January 2010 KOWA released African Moments-Remastered

This album is a re-mastered version of the 1996 release "African Moments" by Kowa, and includes 3 brand new tracks. The collection of songs, most in a relaxed style, is inspired by the culture and nature of sub-Saharan Africa. "Asumebele" starts off like any mellow, adult-contemporary song but soon evolves into something more as a chorus of male African singers joins the melody. "Africa" is an interesting and esoteric song which features African instruments used in a quasi-psychedelic manner. "Zulu Dance" is a mid-tempo number with interesting interplay between a steady beat and a flittering African-style flute. Throughout, though, intricate and accomplished guitar work and inspired vocals reveal the range and depths of this multi-talented group. This album is perfect for those who enjoy a good Easy Listening / World Music experience, particularly a melodic and reverent variant from Africa.

“Scoring Tools” by Kowa is one electronica album that will take listeners to higher planes. Creative, emotional, non-uniform, and engaging are just a few words that can be used to describe this CD. “Mozambique” and “Kuroshio” uses the compelling sounds of native flutes and drums, allowing listeners to enter the blissful escape of another cultural world. Moreover, Kowa’s tactful placement of vocal melodies add vitality to these soundscapes. The epic “Road in Abkhazia” creates a suspenseful atmosphere, aided by the presence of tribal vocals. Each song on “Scoring Tools” exudes its own attractive personality, employs creative electronic sounds, and is topped off with professional production.-Xavier and the RadioIndy Team

“Gemini” by Kowa is an impressive collection of pop/rock tunes. Nicely incorporating heavy doses of electronic elements, “Gemini” takes on a sound that is filled with smooth, unforgettable grooves. “Slave of Emotions” takes on an electronic life of its own with an addictive lead instrumental hook, soothing vocals, and smooth lyrics. Kowa’s blend of lyrical themes of life and love, social downfalls, and deep introspection appeals heavily to the soul-searcher and thinking-person. “Evening” shows some impressive guitar solos, coupled with captivating flute and sax arrangements. With solid production marked by clarity and professionalism, “Gemini” should be on everyone’s list of must-haves! If you enjoy pop, rock, electronica, and instrumentals, add this CD to your collection today!-Xavier P. and RadioIndy
