Artist History
Rudi Biber, born in Vienna Austria, became a plumber (not “Joe the Plumber”) in his father’s business but was always attracted to music – especially to his favorite instrument – the guitar. Early on, he started to learn the instrument; first he taught himself; later he mastered the instrument at music school and the Vienna Conservatorium. At 11 years old, he formed his first band, “Teenbeats”. They began playing different community centers in Vienna because he was not allowed into the clubs due to his age. However, Rudi tried and managed to sneak into these establishments through backdoors and kitchens to listen to his idols. There was Joe Zawinul, Friedrich Gulda, and many others.
After a few years, while he improved his skills, he became friends with gipsy guitarist Charlie Ratzer and his cousin, Harry Stojka. Rudi joined Ratzer (Rufus & Chaka Khan) to play with him in several groups in the 70s in Vienna and took advantage of this unbelievable music pool, which contained many talented musicians from Vienna, like Peter Wolf – keyboarder and producer – with Frank Zappa; Diana Ross; Wang Chung; Jefferson Starship; Commodores; Scorpions; Harry Stojka (Montreux Jazz Festival); Andre Heller (Circus Roncalli) and many more.
In the 80s, Rudi founded the Black Lagoon Studios in Vienna, which quickly became popular. In the following 10 years, he learned to expand his musical career as a studio musician and recording engineer. Meanwhile he also played the bass and keyboards, worked as an arranger and producer, and became a well-known vocalist. He recorded with many musicians: Tony O’ Malley from Kokomo; Mel Collins and Neal Hubbard from Roxy Music; Timna Brauer and Elias Meiri; Kurt Hauenstein – Supermax; Brad Howell – the Real Milli Vanilli; Latoya Jackson; Joseph Bowie from Doop Troop; Alexander Swete and Reza Naifar; Michio Woirgardt; MoRos y Cristianos; Peter Legat – Count Basic; to name just a few.
The studio was permanently used by the Austro Pop Scene: Rainhard Fendrich, Wolfgang Ambros, Georg Danzer, STS, EAV, Andy Baum, Ludwig Hirsch, Bilgeri, Ostbahn, Kurti Drahdiwaberl, Erika Pluhar, Hallucination Company, Waterloo & Robinson, Bingo Boys, Franz Morak, Jazz Giti, Mariane Mendt, Hansi Lang, Joni Madden, Chuzpe, Erwin Kienast, Joesi Prokopetz, Dolezal & Rossacher, and many more.
In 1992, Rudi, Kurt Hauenstein, and Brad Howell (The Real Milli Vanilli) produced the Supermax album, “The Max is Going to Kick You” at the Hotline Studios in Frankfurt and at the Black Lagoon Studios in Vienna. Rudi engineered, co-arranged, and played guitar on this album. The same team produced the Supermax Reggae album, “One and All” at the Black Lagoon Studios in Vienna in 1993. Rudi also engineered, co-arranged, and played guitar on both albums. When the album was released, Rudi joined the Supermax band to promote their new music. The group toured together in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and Spain. Rudi played guitar, keyboards, and was also featured on vocals in the group.
By 1999, Rudi and his family (wife Angela, daughter Naomi, and son Damon) were living in Southwest Florida, where they opened a very successful German restaurant with Angela as the head chef. The restaurant was appropriately named, “Angela’s”. Customers come from everywhere to try her signature dishes (such as Cordon Bleu Wiener Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, Beef Stroganoff, Apple Strudel and Black Forest Cake).
By 2010 Rudi moved back to Vienna Austria to continue with his music career, and launched his success full Band LOVEMACHINE touring Europe for the last two years. By 2011 they recorded their first Live album “ on the road again 2 “ which was released on CD BABY by September 2011.Rudi is working currently on his forthcoming Studio Album “ Angel with 1 wing “ which will be released by 2012.We hope you will enjoy our music . Rudi Biber’s Love Machine releases a spectacular collection of Blues/Rock songs on the CD, “On the Road Again 2.” This album impresses with its remakes of some great Blues/Rock classics. The vocals have a gruff and tough attitude and runs full throttle with magnetic appeal. The track, “Dark Eyed Cajun Woman,” has a sweet flowing groove that swirls around the rootsy and melodic vocals. Another song, “Before You Accuse Me,” features some first rate bluesy piano riffs that complements the emotive vocals and dynamic instrumentation. Another great Blues song, “I’m Tore Down,” offers a rocking beat that brims with energetic energy and will invigorate your soul. Fans of straight up Blues/Rock music will thoroughly enjoy the excellent songs on the terrific album, “On the Road Again 2.”
