Artist History
Native to the Northwest, Laura began singing as a child, growing up in a large family where both creating and performing music were a normal part of life. After several years singing in her home church, she decided to try her hand at writing her own music at the age of fourteen. She continued to write original music as she attended college in Portland, OR and became increasingly involved in a touring music group there. She toured with the vocal ensemble and the choir throughout the Western United States.
Laura has also had much experience within the studio, singing background vocals on multiple records, and writing and recording original music for video use. In 2007, with the help of her husband, she began recording the tracks for her EP at Downbeat Sounds in Vancouver, WA. The EP is currently selling at shows and in retail establishments in Oregon and Washington, and select tracks are scheduled for airplay on radio stations in Canada and the Philippines.
Inspired by personal experience and the lives of those close to her, she writes in a way that draws you in to her journey of life, love, and pain – and brings a sense of discovery, hope, and understanding. Her lyrics and melodies are both raw and real, challenging and intriguing, and will always leave you wanting to hear more!
The EP tracks are the beginning of a full length record that is scheduled to be released in Spring of 2008.
Produced by Kris, co-produced by Tim Downing and Shawn Lewis, and joined by top notch players from the area, the team recently completed Laura's EP at Downbeat Sounds in Vancouver, WA. The EP is being released at the CD Release Party on Nov 16th, 2007! (available now as pre-release at local shows or through the link below).

Review of "EP" by Terri and the RadioIndy Team!

This six song EP from Laura McGreevey contains such a multitude of wonder, we were amazed at the talent. We are left wanting more, and it is very clear there is more to come from this talented young woman. She excels vocally, especially when the production allows puts her at the forefront, as in "The Gift" - a simple production, yet deep in raw emotion. Simple acoustic guitar backing "Hold Me" defines her ability to capture an audience, as we hung on her every word giving us this chilling and lyrically potent song. Laura is able to hold her head up high around her counterparts in pop music culture, as she could likely stir waves in the market. Her spiritual demeanor reflects a brilliant holy connection. This will definitely be a souvenir EP, a real collector's item. -Terri and the RadioIndy TeamCheck out Laura McGreevey's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites |
