Marco Catracchia
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Marco began playing guitar at the age of 12. The first song he wrote was played on the radio when he was in the 8th grade and his passion for writing just grew from there. After high school, he worked at a number of different jobs to pay the bills, always trying to keep music as an important part of his occupation. Eleven years ago, he finally quit his job as a bouncer in San Francisco and strapped on his guitar full-time.
A talented musician who writes, performs and produces his own music, Marco has drawn inspiration from experiences of life, and he writes what he knows. A combination of Folk, Alt Country, Pop, Rock, and Blues, Marco’s music defies easy categorization. Thank God for the category of Singer/Songwriter.
Currently, Marco just released his third CD of original songs entitled “Diary of a Recluse (And Other Short Stories).” It is a reflection of Marco’s personal growth and artistic evolution. A compilation of songs defined by honesty and a deep introspective focus, the result is a collection of powerful, poetic lyrics capturing moments of life in song. Candid, upfront and sincere, it is Marco honest to the core. His melodies are immediately memorable with an original sound that captures hearts with sincerity and soul. The album's personal themes are as varied as its musical textures. Denny Hemingson (pedal steel guitar player for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) adds rich melodies and layers of harmonies to Marco’s acoustic and electric guitar tracks.
Influences include: Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen,David Gray, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, Ryan Adams, Glen Phillips, John Denver, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins…

RadioIndy is pleased to present Marco Catracchia with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Diary of a Recluse (And Other Short Stories)"
Marco Catracchia has created a touching collection of modern folk songs with “Diary of a Recluse (And Other Short Stories).” This is a heartwarming and uplifting set, characterized by Catracchia’s heartfelt lyrics, personal vocal style and intellectual songwriting. His style includes instantly memorable melodies, coupled with his skillful acoustic and electric guitar tracks. “Before You Hit the Ground” is a strong opener, showcasing his poetic lyrics and honest, sincere vocal abilities. “Sweet Angel” is a wonderful duet featuring female vocalist Megan Mount and is ready for immediate airplay. “For You (Until the End)” and “They Forgot Your Name” are further examples of his skillful writing and lyrical candor, while he varies the musical textures and personal themes without losing his identity. “Learn to Live” features soaring vocal harmonies and melodies cleverly layered to provide amazing depth and beauty to the track. Marco Catracchia has created his own style of modern folk and alternative country with “Diary of a Recluse (And Other Short Stories),” which is sure to appeal to fans of male vocalists in either genre. -Rodney and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team |
