With “Note-ified”, his fourth album, Mike has created what many are saying is his “masterpiece”: twelve breathtaking new songs written by Mike, and as always, recorded at home and featuring him on all instruments and vocals, with the exception of the warm and lovely “Hand In Hand”, where he is joined by his classically trained soprano/pianist wife Rella on lead vocals and piano. This new collection finds Mike delivering his most complex and adventurous work to date, both musically and lyrically; still touched by his love for The Beatles and sung in an emotive “Lennon-spirited” voice loved by his fans around the world. From the inspirational “You Can Shine”, “Hope”, and “Nation Full Of Heroes” to the cosmic beauty of “Eyes Of The Universe”, “Words Through Time”, and “Beyond The Sunset”, Behind The Sun”; from the politically charged “We Know You’re Right” to the self-reflective “Short Term Memory Blues” to the fantasy-laden world of “Child Of The Water”, Mike takes listeners on a gracefully powerful and awe-inspiring journey that travels far beyond the parameters of today’s standard musical fare.
Since 2005, at least fifteen of Mike’s recordings have received airplay on commercial, community, and internet radio stations in Australia, Canada, England, Germany, Italy, and the United States. One of his songs, “Thanks To You”, was featured on a charity CD produced by the British radio show, “BeatlesandBeyond”, in support of “Adopt-A-Landmine” and “Diabetes UK”, and four of his own versions of Beatles songs were recently included by an Illinois radio station on their “promotional” two CD 40th anniversary tribute to the “White Album”. From 2006-2008, Mike was a featured artist on the website of “Beatles Brunch”, the Sunday morning radio show carried by over 150 stations in North America. With an ever-increasing support base, including his fans, the amazing British recording artist Peter Lacey, the gracious and incredibly dedicated “BeatlesandBeyond” radio show host Pete Dicks, and the fantastic Jamie Hoover of The Spongetones, Mike’s new album “Note-ified” is certain to have others sit up and take notice.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Mike Ringler with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Note-ified"
The sounds of the late 1960’s psychedelic movement are still alive and well! Don’t believe us? Well, just listen to “Note-ified” the latest release by Mike Ringler and you may reconsider your answer. The CD opens with that staple fuzz guitar tone on the song “You Can Shine,” a track that also features vocal work very reminiscent of The Byrds and Buffalo Springfield. Ringler also delves into the British sounds made popular by The Beatles and The Hollies with songs such as “Hope” and “We Know You’re Right.” There is also an excellent guitar solo on “Words Through Time,” which has a cool Moody Blues effect to it. All in all, “Note-ified” screams of “flower power” and is a great album for any fan of that wildly colorful era. -Shaun H. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team |
