Nancy and Pat Higdon, President of Universal Music Publishing Group, dreamed of and planned this recording for the last 4 years. Higdon was a driving force in getting "PROVE ME WRONG” from just a dream into the studio with the Grammy nominated songwriter and producer, Ken Coomer and Charlie Brocco. After working with Nancy to ensure the recording truly reflected her talents and style, Coomer says “Nancy Casteele is an artist that defies genre. During the recording process, she was a true professional and proved to us that she has only touched the surface of her capacity as an artist. "Nancy is an artist that we will hear from for years to come. She can sing a ballad with the conviction of the greatest Jazz singers of days gone by and can deliver an angst ridden rock song with power and finesse."
Nancy seemed destined to be a musician from an early age; her first "piano" was a long-forgotten accordion she discovered in the family's attic. She would sit with it on her lap, allowing the bottom to fall to the floor, this way being given the opportunity to play two or three notes before having to repeat the process.
From that auspicious beginning in Kortrijk, Belgium, where she was born and raised, she began attending the Conservatory in Kortrijk, Belgium and performing live at the age of 12. She was the lead singer in numerous groups, performing in Belgium, Holland, France, and Germany before writing her first song at 17.
Her first publishing deal followed in 1998, when she signed with Starspan Limited in Ireland. At the age of 20, Nancy traveled to Nashville and fell in love with the city's beauty, warmth and, of course, its music.
Singer-songwriter, Rob Crosby (Holding a Good Hand, She's More, She's a Natural) took her under his wing and together they wrote a long list of songs, creating a unique sound that stands true today. Nancy has since written with a number of famed writers including Kostas, Stewart Harris, Phillip White and Don Goodman, to name a few.
In 2000, Warner Music sent Nancy to beautiful Budapest for the filming of her first video of the song "All in One You." written by Nancy and Craig Karp. With little airplay and a handful of television performances, the song, written by Nancy and Craig Karp stumbled onto the Dutch pop charts and quickly became the "fastest climber." Her second single, "Searchin," written with Rob Crosby and Craig Karp climbed to number five on the Holland pop charts and was titled "Dutch tip of the week." Encouraged by "holds"
for Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Lee Greenwood and Wynona Judd as well as cuts by Canadian artist Alita Backus, Holland singer Danny Derra, and recently, Chinese sensation Shang Hu, Nancy continues to enjoy the craft of songwriting.
In October 2003, Nancy entered a songwriting and promotional deal with Universal Publishing in Nashville. She has remained in the United States since that time, writing and then recording "PROVE ME WRONG." You will see with this recording, Nancy is a truly gifted singer and songwriter who transcends many musical categories.
Ralph Murphy, Vice President of ASCAP International & Domestic, Membership Group, has characterized Nancy as a "unique talent who has risen to the top of her field" and has actively promoted her continuing success.
Nancy writes with a genuine passion and feel for life. After hearing her strong and pure performances so ably produced by Ken Coomer and engineered by Charlie Brocco, you will agree that "her voice is like that of an angel." Sit back and prepare to be amazed.

"Prove Me Wrong" by Nancy Casteele is an outstanding record for adult contemporary music lovers. The strong instrumentation comprised of guitars, piano, organ, and percussion accentuate and compliment Nancy's fresh voice. While the songs display varied tempos and pleasant melodies, the gritty, piercing lyrics express triumph over failed romantic experiences, strength and self-confidence. The solid backing vocals on the track "A Beautiful Shame" nicely lay behind Nancy's powerful lead vocals, while the catchy chorus adds a strong kick to the song. The trance-like title track "Prove Me Wrong" speaks of personal growth with vocals reminiscent of the classy Jazz singers of the 40's paired with a slick, modern electric guitar. If you enjoy gutsy, passionate vocals backed by a talented band, then this CD would make an excellent addition to your playlist.
