Artist History
Neil Carswell was born and raised in Lake James, North Carolina, a mountain lake nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He was blessed to love music, singing and writing songs, since he was a child. He was strongly influenced by the music of The Beatles, Jim Croce, Bob Segar, Eric Clapton, Ronnie Van Zant, Merle Haggard and Don Williams and loved the Memphis sound from Elvis to Al Green.
Neil became a founding member of the band Copperhead while he was still attending high school, and toured with them, and their manager Dirk Peterson, for eight years. They performed with such great bands as The Kentucky Headhunters, 38 Special, Molly Hatchet and Brother Cane.
Now in 2007, Neil Carswell calls Nashville his home and has moved into the new millennium with a new sound and a new solo release "Good Man's Journey." This new release features Neil with a host of great musicians like, Johnny Neel (Allman Brothers), Chris Anderson (Outlaws), Barry Goudreau (Boston) and Stu Kimball (currently part of Bob Dylan�s backing band).

Neil Carswell, the driving force behind the legendary southern rock band, Copperhead, is working on his next solo project, and it will be totally fan supported. Y'all heard that right...fan supported, and that means you, the fans, will fund, contribute to, perform on, and even name Neil's next album. To launch this Neil has put together a long list of prizes for your donations that will go towards recording and production. Everything from CDs and t-shirts to actually performing on the CD itself. You can also co-write a song with Neil, or have Neil do a house concert for you and your friends. There will also be a producer’s club where people can listen to songs in the making, vote on song selection and the album artwork, and even name the album. "Good Man's Journey" is very impressive collection of classic rock and roll songs. The songwriting is very effective, providing memorable and melodic songs with varied styles and instrumentation to keep your attention throughout the CD. The production very effectively allows Neils thoughtful and thought-provoking lyrics about his life experiences, to break through the music. Neils vocal style is very powerful and effective, and very accurately described on Neil's CD description as a "roughly hewn southern whiskey vocal style." Neil put together an impressive group of musicians to accompany him on this CD, and the excellent musicianship is apparent throughout. If you enjoy classic or southern rock and roll, or pop/rock artists as diverse as Joe Cocker, Sammy Hagar, Kid Rock, Rod Stewart, or Guns and Roses you'll enjoy this CD. Pick up a copy today! |

I am currently working with Stu Kimball and Chris Anderson while they are off the road from Dylan and the Outlaws, Donnie Herron also cut some tracks from Dylan's band, brought in by Stu, true old style hillbilly playing, a lost art form it seems, I see why Dylan has him in the band. Man I tell you this album is gonna be an epic. It's a piece of work over a prolonged period of time. I hope to get the singing done and into mix phase soon, while I chisel the thunder" That's it good luck, God Speed , hope to see you on the road.
