OLIVE TREE DANCE from Portugal
CONNECT:

Artist History

Appeared as a new musical breath, the Olive Tree Dance is formed by Renato Oliveira (aka Oliver, didgeridoo) and Márcio Pinto (drum kit and percussion).

In the central concept of its music there is a constant quest for the roots of ancient instruments combined with an inspiration in the futuristic sounds of the machines of our times. Olive Tree Dance represents an alternative proposal for the dancefloors of the future - is the antipode which raises the electronic energy to the organic dimension! Its music is a mix of dancemusic based on acoustic rhythms of ancestors tribes addressed not only to lovers of world music but also for those who enjoy dance without prejudice. There is also an undeniable influence of australian, Brazilian and Jamaican indigenous music, marked by a strong percussionist environment. Originally created in 2003 by Renato Oliveira, the Olive Tree Dance recorded a proto-album in Liverpool named "Deep Inside the Organic" almost all of it prepared solo by the mentor of the group. In 2005 the group participated in the Festival "Andanças", a renowned international festival of traditional music and dance, where the band appears for the first time in its full concept, integrating drums and percussion. After several live performances, in 2009, the opportunity appears to edit its first EP, "Urban Roots," cast by Optimus Discs, by the invitation of Henrique Amaro, from the well-known Portuguese radio Antena3. The group has performed all over the world, in countries such as India, Brazil, Slovakia, Holland, Italy and Spain. In 2010 it edited its first work of long-range, "Didgeridoo Dance All Beauty!” a great album that embraces a new sonority and therefore must be listened carefully. Olive Tree Dance reproduces in full acoustic the sounds of the ancient Aboriginal instrument called the didgeridoo from Australia, combining the inspiration from the current composition of the sound machines of our time, represented by the varied world’s percussion and the cardiac strength of the drum kit. Completely out of musical standards to which we are accustomed to, these elements of nature make this band an energetic and powerful act.

The latest released CD, “Didgeridoo Dance All Beauty!” by Olivetreedance is a brilliant collection of danceable World music. This album features ancient instruments such as the didgeridoo, krin, and djembé, creatively blended with superb drums. As you listen to this album the creativity of combining ancient instruments with modern day instruments impresses with its delightful sounds and rhythmical beats. The song, “Titará?!” is vibrant and filled with rich, musical tonality as the drums burst with tight precision to the melodic tones of the didgeridoo. Another track, “5 Fluxos,” has an intoxicating rhythm, excellent percussive sounds, and a magical melody. “Om Carina,” is bristling with energetic style as the sweet melody has an ambiance of a far away land. If you are looking for something that is out of the ordinary and has a hue of energy, then the fantastic album, “Didgeridoo Dance All Beauty!” is just the type of music you need to hear.
