Artist History

The Band

Matthew Churchill - Electric Guitar: (aka Church, aka Chooch) Matt schlepped down from Anchorage, Alaska to New York in the spring of 2000. He met Trevor through a mutual friend and started playing music with him shortly after... they've been playing together ever since. He hates long walks on the beach... and can't stand sunsets. He loves playing with the band but his real passion is working on improving the shelf life of the Twinkie. He lives in Queens in an alley behind a Diner, although he is thinking of upgrading to a dumpster in the new City Field parking lot.

Trevor Potts - Lead Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Keys: (Aka Nibbles)... Pound for pound the best energy in town... stick and move baby, stick and move.

Joseph Polacik - Drums: We call him Curveball cause you really never know when are where he's going to break... he truly is the most random tangent one could ever become.

Joe Mangan - Bass & Harmony Vocals: J. Mangan is from Philadelphia. He and Trevor were formally introduced at a fraternity function at an unknown college in New Hampshire, back in the good old days. Besides music, Joe does a lot of paperwork.

Band History: After Leaving Polymer66 in 2000 and putting out a solo record in 2001, Trevor grabbed Matthew Churchill (guitar), Jon Doran (bass), and Spencer Potts (Drums) to form Echo Lane. Shortly after Jay Wert (guitar) joined the band Echo Lane appeared in Rolling Stone's January issue and headlined New York's Howl Festival. In 2003 Spencer left the band to pursue other "more corporate" dreams... as a result, after a brief stint with Matt Tory behind the wheel, Joe Polacik entered the band and took over the drums. In 2005 Jay Wert left the band to be a grown up and start a family (it's ok... we love him anyway). Joe Mangan then entered the picture as a guitar player and did not actually play bass for Echo Lane until 2006 when Jon Doran left the band to dive in to a fabulously successful adult film career. This is when, as a group, they decided to reform and relaunch as Red Directors and have been rockin the crap out of clubs in NY as well as other venues up and down the east coast ever since. I guess good things come to those who stick around.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Red Directors with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Wave it In "

If you like pop/rock with bigger-than-life hooks and sing-along choruses that stick with you long after the last note has drifted off into the night then, Red Directors, delivers the goods on their latest CD, “Wave It In,” a ten song collection of highly polished power pop gems. “After Sunday” kicks things off with its infectious, era-spanning sense of melody and drive. It’s only one of several highlights though. “Been Around” and “Pretty Good Odds” demonstrate the band’s ballads are no less formidable than their best rockers, despite such defining up tempo performances as “Naked in the Kitchen” and “Woken Eye.” Elsewhere, they more than ably show they can cover that middle ground between rocker and ballad too, offering up the terrific “Spin” and the endearing “Amazing,” each with the same post-Beatles flourish that infuses the entire CD. With such a solid multi-format, pop/rock approach to their sound the “Wave It In” CD by Red Directors is sure to please across generation lines, a tribute to their talent as well as their influences.
