Based in San Francisco CA, Superhero Theme Song makes music that blends melodic acoustic guitar driven songs, with alternative pop, electronica, trippy soundscapes, and groovy down tempo beats. Recorded in 2009 and 2010, Man of Steel is the sixth album from STS (Superhero Theme Song), and is the one of the band’s more pure, song-based albums; with plenty of sweet acoustic guitar, and groovy beats playing underneath rich vocal melodies. It was inspired by the music of Liam Finn, David Gray, Zero 7 and the Velvet Underground. Many of the songs were written while traveling though Asia in early 2009. Upon returning to the US, the entire album was recorded in a small, 12×8 room using a Mac computer and a few pieces of analog recording equipment. The roots of STS go way back to a group of teenagers making their own homemade instruments out of cardboard, coffee cans and springs in a moldy garage. Original “songs” were written, performed and recorded on a rusty Radio Shack mono tape recorder. Eventually, real instruments were acquired and the group began playing shows around Northern California. Today, STS is completing work on a new album for release late 2010, while also working on various music projects for film, TV and multimedia. |
