Teporah started playing piano at the tender age of five. After studying classical and jazz piano, classical composition, and trumpet at Peabody, the Walden School, and Oberlin Conservatory, she began songwriting. Playing in blues and R&B bands gave her the backround that brings a soulful, bluesy style to her vocals and playing style. Lyrics often harken back to socially concious songwriters of the sixties, such as Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, and Laura Nyro.
