"Bordersnakes" is a Texas phrase(meaning criminals who steal from one side of the Rio Grande and sell to the other),so it is no surprise that band founders, song writers, singers, musicians, and twin brothers Larry and Terry Tutor made their trek to Southern California in days gone by from their native Texas. The 'Snakes were eventually formed in 1996 and released their first CD "Love,Blood, and Rhetoric" in 1999."Better Angels" followed in 2002 and the latest "Magic Town" in 2006). By trial and much error, the 'Snakes arrived at their now long standing nucleus of: Brian Floyd (Pasadena,Ca.)---Saxophone Craig Gross (Hollywood,Ca.)--Acoustic Guitar, percussion,Vocals Greg Krueger (Detroit,Mi.)--Lead Guitar,Dobro,Mandolin Jeff Fish(Kansas City,Mo.):Drums,Percussion Larry Tutor(Houston,Tx.)---Bass,Vocals Terry Tutor(Houston,Tx.)--Guitars,Harmonica,Piano,Organ,Vocals They normally can be seen gigging primarily in Hollywood (Key Club,Troubadour,Roxy,Viper Room,et al...)...

The talented group, The Bordersnakes, release another fantastic album, “Brothers” that runs full steam ahead with flavorful Country music. This duo offers harmonies that are straight up fantastic. Right from the start, the first track, “Almost Everything,” will have you hooked on the music in a matter of seconds. This melody is sweet and charming and the tasty addition of the instruments adds an appetizing flair. Sit back and enjoy the song, “Once & Future Fool,” as those striking harmonies blend so beautifully. Another song, “Wings of My Own,” is a lively tune with a combination of charming harmonies and easy flowing Country beats. Fans of The Everly Brothers will truly appreciate the collection of wonderful Country songs on the CD, “Brothers.”

"Blue Norther" by The Bordersnakes is alternative/Americana album with a sound compiled from several influences. The basis is country, but throw in some blues and a blue collar rock element and there is a formula that equals high energy and a definite sing along ability. The arrangements are diverse and the performances are fantastic. Listeners will also appreciate the amount of passion behind the well-delivered, well-harmonized vocals. Overall, the band's sound is very complete and the song-writing ability is not to be ignored. The album sounds great, with evident care taken in heightening the experience by making every element of the sound represented. A highlight is the opener "State Road 7." There is and undeniable Springsteen element here, as this track has a raw power to it and a great piano line, and tears off the roof with a vibrant horn section. "Blue in the Face" features some great variation in the vocal performance, tons of energy, and clever lyrics. "Shadow On the Wall" has some beautiful harmony in the vocals and is hypnotic and mellow. For listeners that enjoy classic American rock, be sure to check out The Bordersnakes’ “Blue Norther.” -William and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team Check out The Bordersnakes 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites |
