FitzGerald’s served as a dance destination in the fifties and its intimate atmosphere along with excellent acoustics provided the perfect backdrop for old-school crooner Ocean to introduce 10 new songs from the brand-new CD. However, Tony Ocean needs no introduction as he can lay claim to playing the part of Dean Martin in Chicago's "Rat Pack" production. He also has resoundingly worked the room on a regular basis at the legendary Jilly’s Night Club in Chicago, New York and Las Vegas.
The release of Ocean's new CD "Me and Mrs Jones" signals another transformation by this multi-faceted entertainer. Gone are the standards made famous by old masters as Ocean shows his range by taking on slow-tempo soulful songs as well as some tunes penned by a roster of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers including Van Morrison and Robbie Robertson. There are also a few standout collaborations with notable singers like Joyce "Peaches" Faison on "I Want Your Love" and jazz performer Angel Spiccia on the old Bread song, "If."
"Me and Mrs. Jones" chronicles all stages of love from the heady early days on the opening track to hurt, betrayal and a plea for honesty on the final number. Whether he's beseeching "Mrs Jones" or regretfully saying "Good Bye" Ocean's expressive voice easily runs the gamut of all emotions on the 10 track CD
Ocean, along with manager Phil Vaughan, reiterated that the artist is not completely walking away from the Rat Pack numbers that are such a big draw at the more than 270 shows he puts on each year that include a standing gig at downtown Jilly's every Sunday and Monday. However, if the recent CD release party is any indication, these new numbers will be a hot ticket with die-hard Tony Ocean fans while drawing more musical devotees into his camp.

Tony Ocean doles out skill and passion with his new CD, "Me and Mrs. Jones." While his cover of the Billy Paul classic is well done and worthy of being a title track, the Robbie Robertson-penned "Out of the Blue" provides Ocean with the perfect canvas for the kind of deep and soulful delivery the song demands. This album stays nothing but smooth throughout, but still holds some edge and emotion with Ocean's strong vocals. "Someone Like You" has all the elements this album is about: passion, beautiful piano, and catchy melodies. Another gem is the last track, "Be Honest," a duet with a female singer. Tony Ocean’s fine CD, "Me and Mrs. Jones," is easy listening anyone can enjoy.
