GROWN-UP LYRICS AND EAR-PLEASING MELODIES BECKON ACOUSTIC FOLK AND POP-ROCK FANSWISDOM DAYS (Fall 2005) is the sophomore CD from late-blooming Chicago singer/songwriter Kathy Greenholdt and her folk-pop band, The Edsel Bros.
The CD takes its name from the first track, "Wisdom Days," which, along with much of the album, addresses universal questions most prominently faced at mid-life. This is no accident, as Greenholdt crossed over to age 40 when she was writing the songs. The editor of smother.net wrote:
"While there's plenty of up-tempo numbers on the album, Kathy's voice is always wrought with melancholy and a subtle darkness. So, it should be no surprise that the album is thematically about a mid-life crisis and the years after the flighty twenties. As a man nearing his thirties, I can certainly relate. Hip folk-pop fans will love this."
On WISDOM DAYS, Greenholdt's historically acoustic band (featuring Greenholdt on vocals and guitar, Paul Coady on guitars and harmonica, and Rob Fore on bass) adds a few extra layers to the music, including vocal harmonies and additional instruments, such as electric guitars, drums, and violin.
The resulting CD features simple, honest music that ranges from quiet folk confession to rock-pop declaration.
WISDOM DAYS is a self-released project and was recorded in Greenholdt and Coady's home studio. The CD is available through www.KathyGreenholdt.com.
