Song written in a hotel room in Nashville Tennessee while in town doing ovd. vocals on Ruby Jane and Glasses of Wine. I came back to the room and saw two guitar picks on the floor I couldnt figure out where they came from. My guitar was in an open D tuning so I picked it up and wrote it in a few minutes it seems. I was in tears thinking back to my childhood and the times I spent on the river with my Uncle Harry Lee White. He wasnt a real preacher but he did a lot of preaching to me anyway. A true story of my life a heavy metal approach with a back porch vibe. Cane means River Cane, or you can take it as Cain and Able. |
