David Kings Bio David King is a singer/songwriter from Californias Great Central Valley. Although trained in jazz and philharmonic orchestra, his style of music composition can be generally described as Rock Americana / Alternative with an occasional flavor of country. Musically, his guiding philosophy is that melody is king. Paul Osborne of Audio Dallas Recording Studio has said of David, He writes great hooks and his melodies really stay with you. David has just recently released his debut album entitled Same As Yesterday. It was originally conceived as a project for his family and friends, a sort of audio album as opposed to a photo album to listen to over the years. This focus resulted in very sing-able melodies with strong lyrics and an interesting variation in the musical styles. When the recording was finished, the studio said this is an incredible album and encouraged David to have an independent label pick it up. It didnt take long before a 2005 Grammy Award winning artist picked out three of the songs to demo and a number of radio stations contacted the label for air time. An international orphanage foundation recently selected the song written about his adopted daughter The One, for use with their promotional DVD. Same As Yesterday has been digitally integrated and is streaming on a number of webstations. It is also available on iTunes and cdbaby.com. as well as his home web page davidkingcd.com. Most of the band members for this solo project are session players from the Dallas, Texas area. Some tracks include players from well known bands such as Leann Rimes, Gretchen Wilson, Charlie Pride, Foreigner and Dan Fogelburg. JT King, Davids brother was instrumental in pulling the sessions together as well as being a co-writer on a number of the tracks. One of Davids passions is music and he plans to continue to write and record songs as well as promote new material to other artists. He notes, There are a surprising number of terrific musicians who just dont write. My niche might be more along the lines of a Bruce Hornsby, writing original songs for myself and other artists as well. He draws his inspiration from all of the busy-ness of his life and relationships. Davids been asked how hes going to choose which career to pursue given that he holds a graduate degree in an unrelated field. He answers I think that having a life outside of music actually helps me do a better job of writing because it lets me step outside of the world of music and gives me a perspective that I wouldnt otherwise have.
