Margaret Murphy
Image: 641915-R1-052-24A_020.jpg A Chicago Native, Margaret has been singing professionally for over twenty years. "Hand raised" by the great tenor saxophonist Von Freeman (his words), she has appeared with Von at the Chicago Jazz Festival, Taste of Chicago and many jazz clubs throughout Chicago including Andy's, The Green Mill, Pete Miller's Steakhouse, Green Dolphin Street and The Jazz Showcase. As the vocalist for the Charlie Johnson Quartet, Margaret performed with the group for over three years at one of Chicago's most popular venues, The Backroom. The group was also featured at Chicago's Navy Pier Beer Garden and has appeared there for the 2005 through 2007 summer seasons.   Margaret's voice was featured in a duet with vocalist/keyboardist Mike Logan singing the theme song to the major motion picture "Pieces Of A Dream."  Margaret was also the featured vocalist at the famous Pump Room in the Ambassador East Hotel for a six month engagement and recently performed on the Carnival Cruise Line with Stevie Legend on a tour of the Eastern Caribbean. In 2005, Margaret produced and performed on the debut CD "Moment's Notice" by the Charlie Johnson Quartet which was received with rave reviews.  In April 2007, Margaret produced the acclaimed jazz show "Three For Jazz" at the DuSable Museum which featured Margaret and two of Chicago's most talented jazz performers, Marc Courtney Johnson and Tecora Rogers and a band of renown Chicago musicians including Skinny Williams and Chuck Webb.  In June, 2007 Margaret and her husband bassist Chuck Webb produced and released Margaret's solo CD entitled "In Full Bloom."  The CD is currently being showcased on independent radio stations in England, Norwary, Spain,  Portugal, Italy, Macedonia and throughout the United States.  Margaret received a Grindie, the independent Grammy award, for her vocal performance on the cover of Sade's "Pearls" and excellent in production.
