On Tuesday, August 5, 2008 Tanner Horn and the Astronauts Before Breakfast will bring their high-energy live show to Bordello in downtown Los Angeles, competing in the Shure & Sam Ash Original Sessions National Band Search. The band will be playing songs from their recently released self-titled disc, as well as some new creations they are currently recording. The Astronauts present a unique mix of indie, funk and soul that Tanner describes as “Sex Rok.” Tanner and the Astronauts were just featured on LA’s biggest rock station, KROQ 106.7 (My Perverted Mind). In addition to KROQ, they were just featured on Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles (Panica). They recently performed at Boardner’s in Hollywood for “Breakout Entertainment Night” to a full and enthusiastic crowd. They have opened for the Cliks (Tommy Boy) on The Knitting Factory’s front stage, performing tracks from their debut EP to a packed house. Mastered by Mike Lazer (Gnarls Barkley), the band recorded their 6-song debut CD in early 2007. Loaded with radio-ready tunes, "Astronauts Before Breakfast," is an in-depth look at modern culture. The CD was just featured on Undiscovered Radio as a Top 5 Pick of The Week (www.UndiscoveredRadioNetwork.com) on February 17, 2008, which translated to airplay on 7 syndicated FM radio stations in the Southern and Eastern U.S. With tracks "Crazy Days," "My Perverted Mind," and "My Whole Life", it is also an honest reflection of a life lived to the fullest, with no regrets, from a young artist coming of age. The first single from the CD, “Panica” “is a vivacious romp through the mind of a young man that listeners of a wide variety of music will enjoy”-Radio Indy, Gold Artist Recipients. The group started as a trio, but embraced new sounds and ideas and grew to a six member ensemble including lead singer Tanner Horn, who also plays guitar and piano; drummer Nick Urbom; lead guitarist Aaron Rosenberg; and background vocalist Ben Cain. John Armstrong recently joined the Astronauts on bass, and Neill Skylar, who sings lead and backing vocals, rounds off the group. The band’s unique sound is rooted in the pan-American experience but finds its voice in the City of Angels. |
