Review of "Intersections" by Xavier P. and RadioIndy.com!
POSTED BY: xavierpersad POSTED ON: 03 Oct 2007 09:30 AM
“Intersections” by Roberta Duchak is a vibrant assembly of delightful jazz tunes. In these broadway-influenced tunes, Roberta’s perfect pitch and flowing tone fuse to create the most seducing component of “Intersections.” The excellent vocal performances are nicely complimented by top notch musicianship. “Let Me Sing” shows off Roberta’s beautiful tonal texture and the passion that she puts into her performances. “Seasons Of Love” stands out as extremely melodic, memorable, and musically compelling. Moreover, “Raise the Roof” takes an enjoyable venture into the upbeat sounds of Spanish-flavored jazz. Lyrically, Roberta crafts tunes of joy, love, pain, and fun with great skill! Brilliant production that allows Roberta’s captivating voice to stand out above the instrumentation brings this CD to a nice close. Fans of Jane Monheit and Nancy Wilson will find genuine pleasure in the beautiful music on this CD!

Roberta Duchak is a veteran of Broadway and several national tours. This c.d. is a blending of her two favorite types of music: Broadway and Jazz.
Roberta hopes you enjoy "Intersections" as much as she enjoyed making it!

She recently finished a 6 month run as Rona Lisa Peretti in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” Her National tour credits include playing the Ghost of Christmas Past opposite Richard Chamberlain in Scrooge, Hal Prince’s ShowBoat(Magnolia & Ellie) and Ragtime(Mother).

Regarded as one of Chicago's "Second City Divas", a few favorite credits include, Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (TATC), Come fly With Me (Mercury Theatre), Ain’t Nothin But the Blues (Northlight Theatre), And the world goes Round(Drury Lane),
Cats (Jellylorum), Swing!(singer) ,State Fair(Emily Arden) The Taffetas(Cheryl) at the Marriott, Janet Weiss in The Rocky Horror Show (CCPA), Lady Capulet in The Second City’s Romeo and Juliet(Chicago Shakespeare), Irene Malloy in Hello Dolly (Skylight Opera),The Visit(Goodman Theatre).

She was a featured soloist at the prestigious Ravinia Festival as well as performing as Frieda in Sunday in the Park with George and a Liebeslieder in A Little Night Music.
Other recordings include "Second City Divas" and "SECOND CITY DIVAS: live at the mercury" both available on CD Baby!

Making the CD:
I met my producer, Phil Swann while we were working together in Chicago on a musical that he wrote. I knew immediately I wanted him to produce my future c.d. Our goal was to make a true, live, jazz c.d. in 5 days. I didn't get the charts ahead of time and there were no rehearsals. I flew to Nashville, Tennessee. I met my engineer and musicians, the clock started, and we just made it happen! I couldn't have asked for a more talented team. Without a doubt making this c.d. was the most authentic and creative musical experience in my life.
