Roberta Duchak is a veteran of Broadway and several national tours. This c.d. is a blending of her two favorite types of music: Broadway and Jazz. Roberta hopes you enjoy "Intersections" as much as she enjoyed making it!
Roberta made her Broadway debut in the musical "Ragtime". She recently finished a 6 month run as Rona Lisa Peretti in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” Her National tour credits include playing the Ghost of Christmas Past opposite Richard Chamberlain in Scrooge, Hal Prince’s ShowBoat(Magnolia & Ellie) and Ragtime(Mother).
Regarded as one of Chicago's "Second City Divas", a few favorite credits include, Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (TATC), Come fly With Me (Mercury Theatre), Ain’t Nothin But the Blues (Northlight Theatre), And the world goes Round(Drury Lane), Cats (Jellylorum), Swing!(singer) ,State Fair(Emily Arden) The Taffetas(Cheryl) at the Marriott, Janet Weiss in The Rocky Horror Show (CCPA), Lady Capulet in The Second City’s Romeo and Juliet(Chicago Shakespeare), Irene Malloy in Hello Dolly (Skylight Opera),The Visit(Goodman Theatre).
She was a featured soloist at the prestigious Ravinia Festival as well as performing as Frieda in Sunday in the Park with George and a Liebeslieder in A Little Night Music. Other recordings include "Second City Divas" and "SECOND CITY DIVAS: live at the mercury" both available on CD Baby!
Making the CD: I met my producer, Phil Swann while we were working together in Chicago on a musical that he wrote. I knew immediately I wanted him to produce my future c.d. Our goal was to make a true, live, jazz c.d. in 5 days. I didn't get the charts ahead of time and there were no rehearsals. I flew to Nashville, Tennessee. I met my engineer and musicians, the clock started, and we just made it happen! I couldn't have asked for a more talented team. Without a doubt making this c.d. was the most authentic and creative musical experience in my life.
Talkinbroadway.com review-August 07 ". Her fresh interpretations are imbued with intelligence and genuine artfulness and heart rather than tricks or self-indulgence. This album is one of my very favorite issues of the last few months. Roberta can be brassy and sassy ("What You Don't Know About Women" with impressive mastery of its quick jazz shifts and build) or lusciously creamy in a ballad. The closing track, "So Many People," brings loving warmth and feel-good ambiance to the Sondheim ballad. This intersection is a happy meet-and-greet moment for Broadway and jazz, a marriage that works here ... perfectly. "
TAXI- August 07- ...love her sound and vocal style, a very engaging mix of jazz and Broadway sensibilites with dead on pitch!
