Classic rock musician Chris DeMarco and The Chris DeMarco Band will open at one of Marietta's newest music venues, The Scene (2854 Delk Road on July 10 at 9 p.m.) In addition to vocals, DeMarco plays guitar and harmonica. Band members include Dell Bolos and Jerry Sorn on guitar, Reggie Dantzler on bass, Dave James on Keyboards and Brandon Thompson on drums. Price of admission is $10 in advance, $12 the night of the show. For advance tickets, visit www.chrisdemarco.com/store.html. The venue is for "all ages," but concertgoers over age 21 have the option of purchasing drinks by obtaining a colored bracelet.

DeMarco's interest in music began when he met and played with a small blues band while in school in Los Angeles. When his sister married the bass player of Blood, Sweet and Tears, "I got to meet those guys and began thinking about a singing profession," says DeMarco. His musical career evolved, with a short interlude in acting, taking him to New York, Boston, Europe and back to L.A., where he connected with a who's who of people in the music industry.

The height of DeMarco's career came in the '70s and '80s. During this time he was the lead vocalist for the band Riff Raff.

DeMarco chose to leave the fast-paced life of a musician and settle in Cobb in 1994, after visiting a friend who lived in Kennesaw. He earned his real estate license and still sells in the Cherokee County community.

Five years ago, DeMarco suffered a serious illness close to the time that three of his musical contemporaries, Robert Palmer, Warren Zevon and Michael Kamen, died. "My children had grown up knowing 'my daddy was a musician' but never really having seen me in the days I was really doing it," explains the father of three. "They didn't know that part of me and I don't want to leave without doing something significant."

DeMarco produced his CD "Lost and Found," which "connects my older career to now," he said. Selections feature artists like Dick Wagner (Alice Cooper Band), Tommy Talton (Gregg Allman Band) and Kenny Mazur (Robert Palmer Band). Billy Joel and Michael Monarch (Steppenwolf) play on the bonus track "Sail Away."

His latest CD "Chris DeMarco - The '80s," is a collection of music recorded by DeMarco from 1980-85, working with musicians including Kenny Mazur, Bob Kulick and Doug Katsaros.

DeMarco's music can purchased on iTunes, Rhapsody and Napster or CDs at Amazon, CD Baby or his Web site. For more information, call Dreamco Music at (678) 860-4100 or e-mail dreamcomusic@yahoo.com.

Band History

Chris DeMarco began his career in music as a much sought-after musician and band front man, having shared the stage and played with a virtual who’s who of super-musicians of the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. After deciding to leave behind the glare of the bright lights of Hollywood and the ever-pulsing New York music scene, DeMarco settled into the cadence of more laid back climes that now finds him at his most serene self. He now has two CDs on his self-distributed label Dreamco Music and shows himself to be in fine musical form as he treats us to a volume of classic fare meant to please the true Rock aficionados among us.

The latest CD is simply called "Chris DeMarco - The 80's". The songs on the new CD were recorded in New York in the 1980's and have now been released for the first time. If you are a fan of 80's music, you are in for a real treat! Some of the great musicians who played on these tracks include Bob Kulick (KISS, Meatloaf), Doug Katsaros (Aerosmith, BonJovi, Elton John), Thommy Price (Billy Idol, Ron Wood, Blue Oyster Cult), and Yogi Horton (John Lennon, Aretha Franklin, The B-52’s).

”Lost and Found” is an aptly named album that weaves together DeMarco’s past and present musical contributions into one cohesive work, featuring Dick Wagner (Alice Cooper Band), Tommy Talton (Gregg Allman Band and Cowboy), Ken Mazur (Robert Palmer Band), and Barry Richman (Lynard Skynard) on Guitar; Billy Langley, keyboards; Rhys Clark (Billy Joel Band and Freddy Fender Band) playing drums; and Jim Fielder (Buffalo Springfield, Blood Sweat and Tears and Neil Sedaka) on Bass. Billy Joel and Michael Monarch (Steppenwolf) appear on the bonus track Sail Away.

Chris DeMarco, whose experience in the entertainment industry spans over four decades, has also given his musical influence to documentaries, television and radio commercials as well as two film scores. Troma's War released in 1988 by Troma Entertainment featured music composed and produced by DeMarco, including the title track "Alive". (Chris also played a terrorist in a short scene!) Toxic Avenger III - The Last Temptation of Toxie was released in 1989 (also by Troma Entertainment) and boasted music composed and produced by Chris DeMarco based on music by Antonin Dvorak.

Selections from both CDs are on the playlists of many radio stations and podcasts in the US and around the world.

Currently residing in the Atlanta, Georgia area, Chris DeMarco has proven his mettle as a legitimate artist time and time again. From his glory days as a front man for the Island Records recording act Riff Raff, which he formed in 1977, to his contributions to the work of the legendary cadre of musicians he also calls friends, Chris DeMarco’s music and artistry has stood the test of time. Still in his musical prime, and uncompromising in his commitment to making excellent music, he is without a doubt the stuff legends are made of.

You can find Chris DeMarco’s Lost and Found on iTunes and Napster, among other sites, and the physical CDs can be purchased through CD Baby or Chris's official website.
