Artist History
I picked up the guitar while a sophomore in college. I was a Deadhead (it's true) and wanted to strum along to a few of my favorite tunes. Soon thereafter, a few friends formed a 60s cover band and I sang lead and played guitar. I was off and rolling. I quickly discovered that making music came pretty naturally to me. Within two years I was warming for Tracy Chapman at folk coffeehouses and playing for big audiences at political rallies. Then came the 20 year "real" job interlude: I was a high school history teacher & principal for a while. (Loved teaching. Hated being a principal). I made some money, raised a family and played the game. I always, however, yearned to get back to the music. Well, when I hit my 40s I couldn't hold it back any longer. I bagged my career in education and, as of last year, began the career I never had---but always wanted---as a gigging, touring, recording, musician. As of this moment I am at the very incipience of this venture. I play at local clubs in NH and VT, sell homemade CDs on CDBABY (sell is not the best word: house might be better), and write songs like they're pouring out my my soul. I have penned over 40 songs since Halloween. My songs are getting a good deal of positive attention, though most are still unmastered, rough sketches. THREE of my songs have been produced and can be heard on my MySpace page. I can't wait to do more!

"What's Your Point" by Dan Weintraub is a humorous alternative folk album filled with dark humor, punk influences and a "Say what I want" mentality. Dan holds nothing back in his lyrics. The journey through his mind is filled with cynicism and parodies of life. There are lots of smiles hiding in the darkness though. Dan delivers these brooding tunes with an effectively loving and funny style. Dan's talents as a songwriting, acoustic guitarist, and songwriter come together to deliver these enjoyable tunes. Highlights include the opener "Ya Ya Ya." Don't be fooled by the happy-go-lucky sound, Dan has something different in mind. "Employee of the Week" has a driving rhythm and is a love story of sorts. "No One's That Happy" speaks the truth about those who are living in "fake world." If you want to take a humorous look at life, check out this CD by this talented artist.

"The Gap Between v2" Reviewed by RadioIndy.com!

"The Gap Between v2" by Dan Weintraub is a collection of intimate folk and country songs. The lyrical content and guitar work are what makes this album stand out. You'll hear some polished, great sounding guitar progressions, and lyrics that are a bit on the dark side, yet well written and well delivered. Dan's personality certainly comes through in the music and his voice has a pleasant timbre. Highlights include "Beautiful Empty," which has some nice changes and lyrics that are a portrait of Dan's idea of carefree. "I'll Be Your Boyfriend, Paris Hilton" speaks for itself and lends itself to Dan's ability to laugh at himself. "Merely an Afterthought" wraps it up nicely, taking the tempo down a bit and without losing the concept. If you enjoy Folk music and clever songwriting with a twist of humor, pick this one up.
