Artist History
| Searching for the right sound and found it in Static Paradise. An Uncle and a Nephew, both who married women who migrated from Arizona to Iowa, and have lives that have run parallel in many ways. Doug & Vicky have been rocking together for 31 years. Rick has played off and on in "jam" sessions with them, and finally got serious about his writing a few years ago. Debbie discovered keyboards and the band was formed. They've completed their first album "Pop the Cork". Original material, based on current events, family memories and everything in between. Their music has lyrical hooks and twists, with a sound that the band feels is unique and entertaining. |

"Pop The Cork" by Static Paradise doesn't mess around. We're talking straight up rock with no funny business. Alright, maybe a litle funny business. It's all about hooks, riffs and lyrical debauchery with this band. The musicianship is superior, with some great guitar work and steady beats. The overall sound of the album is raw. You'll hear some guitars buzzin' from time to time. It's a fun ride, for sure. "Judgement Day" leads things off with heavy guitars and a big Southern attitude. Another notable is "Temptation," moving from a traditional blues riff into an "walk in the clouds" feel with heavenly female backups. "Sacred Cow" wraps things up, taking you to outer space with a drum machine, synths and a sitar/guitar. If you like The Stones on a bender with Sonic Youth, try some Static. -William and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer TeamCheck out Static Paradise's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites |
