Artist History
In a world where many Christians feel the pressure to put up a perfect front, one man is openly sharing a life story that parallels that of the Biblical prodigal son. This singer/songwriter is on the journey of a lifetime as he seeks to share his unique insights about the Christian walk in the form of his music.
Stephen Bautista recently spent several months traveling to and from Nashville, Tenn., for the production of his debut CD entitled Abandon, a contemporary Christian collection of ten original songs about the journey, struggles, and joys of the common Christian's walk of faith.
"This album explores the feelings, thoughts and experiences I have had in the course of this unlikely relationship between a perfect, almighty God and an imperfect man," Bautista stated. "The title song, for example, is a recognition that often times we have to come out of our comfort zones to fit into God's will. This is basically what I'm doing with my music ministry."
Abandon was produced by veteran Nashville producer Eric Copeland of Creative Soul Records. Copeland, who lives by the motto "good isn't good enough," assembled a team of top studio musicians whose resumes include projects for Steven Curtis Chapman, Michael W. Smith, Faith Hill, Michael McDonald, and Amy Grant, among others, along with the engineering skills of Grammy Award winning sound engineer, Ronnie Brookshire.
"I never dreamed that I would get the opportunity to work in the studio with such amazing talent," Bautista said. "As a musician, it was a humbling experience, but they really took my music to a whole new level."
Bautista comes from a long line of Christian musicians, including his late father who filled the family home with classical and jazz piano music, planting the seeds for his son's lifelong love of music.
"My dad really gave me an appreciation for truly great music." Bautista shares. "In honor of his memory, I've dedicated this first album to him."
Bautista is not new to the music performance scene. Over the years he has performed at venues in Wisconsin, California, and Nevada. With the release of his new CD, Bautista has begun expanding his performance schedule and locations to reach more people with the straightforward truths of his message.
"If I can reach just one lost soul for Christ or encourage a fellow believer who may be struggling," Bautista said, "then this whole journey has been worth it."
Bautista and his wife, Christy, home school their five children in Pahrump, Nevada. He is currently writing music for his second album.

“Abandon” by Stephen Bautista is an outstanding, thought-provoking contemporary Christian CD that features Stephen’s outstanding vocals delivering strong messages about faith and life. Stephen gives us a glimpse of life through music and lyrics. He gives a strong energetic vocal and lyrical performance that pulls together the emotions and experience of his life. The musicianship on the CD is outstanding and effectively presented with radio-ready production. Throughout the CD Stephen speaks of how his own journey to his Christianity was a battle of conscience and was rewarded with faith. This is a CD that shows the sense of strength Stephen feels about his faith and will encourage those listening to forgive themselves. In “The Most Beautiful Thing” Stephen gives testament to his beliefs and his faith using smooth vocals nicely blended above beautiful acoustic guitar work. “Grace Beyond My Need” features an adult rock sound with nice electric guitar work and another strong vocal performance by Stephen, highlighted by interesting backing vocals. “Forged in the Fire” features beautiful acoustic guitar work and a fun vibe that leads to rich harmonies and a strong chorus. This is a great CD for those who seek to better understand themselves and their faith.
