Arabian Hearts -- Words and Music by Jack Douglas -- Copyright 2008

Arabian Hearts always knew what they’d find.

Repairing some stranger, marooned without hope, down the line.

She wears his heart on her shirt, where she keeps it entwined.

Arabia, now I just can’t get you off of my mind.

Arabian girls, walking off into the night.

Left in this world, my only way out is to fight.

I hope when we next meet that one of us knows wrong from right.

Until then, my heart will try to remember the light.

Gentlemen, please, while you’re standing there, roll me a game.

What can this mean?  Just seems to be more of the same.

I can’t see through the smoke – all I can feel is the flame.

Do me a favor and kindly forget that I came.

My brother is down, his last heartbeats still sound in my ear.

As I hold him with death, I can feel my last breath drawing near.

I must pick myself up, drink deep from this cup full of fear.

Throw it down on the ground, let the sand wash it down through our tears.

The sound of the horses…  I know it must be in my mind.

This level of pain almost approaches the sublime.

What do you want me to see?  God, you’ve already shown me I’m blind.

Could it still come to be, or did I lose it when I left her behind?
