Artist History
By the time he made his way into the live music capitol of the world, 22 year-old singer/songwriter Luke Balencia had already achieved small town success. With a new powerful selling solo album, a prized recording session with Bruce Goodwin of MMT music group, and a live performance for over ten-thousand in Houston’s Reliant Arena under his belt, word of mouth began to shoot this small town musician into Medina County’s biggest act.
Balencia began a career establishing himself in the local talent shows where the 6 year-old performed singing and dancing routines, ultimately leading to the countless victories over teenagers and young adults. “Performing is me,” he later told the local news, “ It’s when I’m most comfortable…the only time all my thoughts and feelings totally coalesce with one another.” Upon receiving an award in the fall of 1997 for another talent competition, Luke was invited to Nashville by the MMT music group to cut his early first recordings as a solo vocalist. Although not allowed to showcase any of his original scores, then producer Bruce Goodwin found talent, confidence, and overall originality in the new comber’s unique voice and writing ability.
High school graduation was a fork in the road, the Austin music scene beckoned, and two years later the clean rock/pop sound of Luke Balencia emerged in music infested waters. Two months into Austin, he was awarded top singer/songwriter showcase at the Fado prize mic finals, studio sessions at TERRA studios, and had no problem filling coffeehouses with on-lookers every month.
As of late, word-of-mouth has proved once again to be the biggest advertisement for this up and coming star. Teaming up this time with producer Stephen Miller to complete his latest album due April 2008 titled “The way we leave it.”

"The Way We Leave It" by Luke Balencia is an excellent solo acoustic indie rock album brought to you by a talented singer/songwriter. Luke's heartfelt and soulful vocal delivery pulls you right into his world, while the arrangements behind him will fill you with a sense of hope. The overall sound is a breath of fresh air as Luke brings you real songs without a lot of trickery. You get catchy, melodic compositions and true to life lyrics. The album also sounds really good and Luke's vocals are balanced well with the accompaniment. Highlights include "Pearson Street" with a standout vocal performance and lovely subtle backups from female guest. "Ferris Wheel Beautiful" is a very cinematic number with a nice fiddle line and touching lyrics. "November" features a little banjo and a memorable chorus. If you enjoy outstanding adult pop/rock singer/songwriters, you’ll enjoy this outstanding CD.
