Artist History

Once upon a dark night in a west African country known as Liberia, the month was February and the year was eighty-four. A young African lady with the grace of a queen was at the peek of pregnancy. She was on the run, heart beating heavily and was believed to be an angel sent by God for she was a virgin. Words got back to the government and they discovered that the seed that she had conceived was the chosen one. They felt it in their blood and had no doubt that this child, if given birth, would be detrimental to their devilish and hypocritical agenda. Many centuries ago, the savage devils arrived in Egypt with cruel intentions, but they masqueraded opposite of that and appeared to be friendly business men. They integrated in the society and began laying with the indigenous women and having mix breeds. The mix breeds in turn would deny their own African blood and side with the devil. The devils soon breeded their way into the government and gained absolute control of the land. The land in all its beauty and richness was stolen from the indigenous African people. In return the African people were thrown in the abyss of oppression and given no chance for ascension in the land they once owned. A few of the Africans managed to escape to downward Africa and build little chiefdoms, but were eventually conquered by the devils. Now in the modern day of nineteen eighty-four the devils are unyielding in their attempts to murder the woman who bares the key to their destruction. With no one to trust, the pregnant African lady is on the run trying to protect her seed. Overly exhausted from the long trips on foot she arrives in a little town to seek refuge and rest her body overwhelmed from hunger for she has not eaten for two days. As she was asleep she had a dream. It was a voice of a man coming from an all black robe exposing no body parts. From within the robe she saw glares of bright light. A thunderous voice spoke repeatedly, "YOU MUST LEAVE NOW, THEY ARE COMING" Quickly she jumped out of her sleep and began running. She ran through the darkness of the town with no specific destination. In a blink of an eye she stumbled over a rock and twisted her ankle, causing her to collapse. The potency of the pain caused tears to fall from her eyes but she beared it all silently. She heard their voices. The devils had spotted her as she got up and continued running with one swollen ankle, as painful as it was. They quickly lost her for she was consumed by the darkness. The baby is coming; she could feel it and was no longer able to run. Mysteriously, she made it to a secluded field and spotted a tree that stood immensely. She laid under the tree and painfully gave birth to her sun. Strangely, the boy did not cry. She grabbed him and wrapped him up in some cloths to keep him warm. Tears ran down her eyes as she sat with her sun in her arms. The look in his eyes took all her pain away, however She suffered loss of blood. Her body got increasingly weak and her vision slowly went blurry. Out of the abysmal darkness suddenly appeared the same figure she saw in her dreams. He knelt and took the baby from her arms. As he stood over her, she stared her sun in the eyes and he stared back and watched as her soul slowly departed her physical body. The man once again spoke in his thunderous voice, "REST NOW, YOUR WORK IS DONE, YOU ARE FREE." The man looked at the SUN and said, YOU MUST FUFILL THE PROPHECY FOR YOU ARE C-BORN NACIRFA. And then vanished into the darkness. This is how C-Born came to be.

"Son of Malcolm" is a spiritual hip-hop album with reggae undertones from C-Born Nacirfa. This album is driven by the concept and the lyrical content. C-Born speaks a strong word and commands your attention through his poetic lyrics and precise delivery simultaneously reminiscent of Wyclef Jean and Common. The sound is comprised of the relationship between rough sounds and delicate sounds, which befits an album preaching change through action. As a whole, the sound maintains a certain rawness, and the arrangements are full, interesting, and well-balanced. “Son of Malcolm” is well-produced and the recordings are all radio ready. Highlights include "Revolution," a cream-of-the-crop track that incorporates all that is C-Born, with dueling vocals, a simple beat, and some nice melodies. "The Ritual" features a cool string sample, a thick beat, and some great production in the vocal area. "Smokin" features an Asian vibe, some cool piano overlays, and another strong lyrical message. Overall, “Son of Malcolm” is an impressive album with a positive message and great vocal performances and arrangements. If you enjoy revolutionary Afro-hip-hop with strong, poetic writing, give C-Born Nacirfa a listen.
