When Larissa plays solo on the keys, back home in Austin, she is often called "Norah Jones on Fire." However, Larissa's diverse songwriting styles connects with a broad spectrum of music lovers while Larissa’s musical style has transformed from classical to jazzy to pop to R&B over the years. This evolution is due to her past eclectic music experiences. She was trained as a classical pianist from the age of three, and since then, she has toured with & managed her own band, joined the well established rock band called Burn, and attended Texas State University for a music education that encompassed both Classical and Jazz vocal training. Artists often used to describe Larissa's solo musical performance on the piano include Colbie Caillat, Sarah McLachlan & Sara Bareilles. In the past year, Larissa's song "Je T'aime" aired on commercials for B & H Music Stores. These commercials are appearing on MTV, VH1, SPK, NICK, FXNC, SFI, & ENT in the Houston, Texas area. Larissa’s music has received radio play all over the US, England, France and Germany. Austin’s biggest rock station, 101X, recently added tracks from her first album to their Sunday morning “Chillville” segments. In addition to Larissa's resume, song, "Je T'aime"had been featured in the New York independent film "Dykeotomies," she was also commissioned by 40/20 Productions to co-write the theme song for the upcoming Austin independent film "Lost in Sunshine." “Je T’aime” will also be featured in the upcoming film, “Until I See You Again”: from the two-time Emmy-award winning producer of the hit TV shows Felicity and Alias. In December of 2008, Larissa released, I’ve Found You, a side project E.P. of both jazzy and “Latin flavored” music, incorporating Flamenco, Salsa, Bossa Nova , and Samba beats to create an exciting “Norah Jones goes Latin” sound. With Larissa writing French lyrics and featuring players from the world renown Latin groups including Cienfuegos and Grammy-nominated Grupo Fantasma, these tracks are a refreshing new approach in Larissa's music career. With 5 albums capturing Larissa's growth as an artist, Larissa will begin a heavy promotional assault on the music industry with album, Hello. Hello will continue to reach TV and film placement as well as video and radio play. This is only the beginning for Larissa Ness...

RadioIndy is pleased to present Larissa Ness with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Hello"
Larissa Ness’s newest release “Hello” is drenched with Hip-Hop beats and R&B styles. Ness’s vocals are sultry with clean, crisp, and confident precision. Syncopated drum beats and alluring strings gives “Break It Down” a smooth, easy flowing texture. Also take note of the simple one note piano pattern as it adds an air of mystery to this song. Mixing it up and adding a guest rapper to the melodic vocals really gives a Hip-Hop edge to “One Way.” The album has a high-quality sound, as lead vocals are never overpowered by instruments or the background harmonies. Fans of Nelly Furtado or Natasha Bedingfield will take pleasure in “Hello” as it is an album well worth hearing. -Diane And the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team |

Billboard writes, “Playing with Prince at his two-month Las Vegas residency may be the ultimate stamp of approval for a backing band.” But let’s not forget Grupo Fantasma has just recently been nominated for a Grammy! That being said, Larissa is very excited to present her fans with a solid new E.P. featuring a plethora of TOP NOTCH musicians. Fans can buy Larissa’s new “I’ve Found You” CD (which features Leo, Gilbert, and Josh of Grupo Fantasma) on CDbaby.com, LarissaNess.com, and at Waterloo Records. Listen to why Prince hails Grupo Fantasma as “real musicians playing real music.” |
