Mike was born in Baltimore, Maryland and currently resides in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where he is a student at Middle Tennessee State University. Mike will persue a degree in the Music Industry. Athletically, Mike is a black belt in Kenpo Karate and an avid outdoorsman. He has long enjoyed his families hunting traditions. He is a member of the 10-4 Gun Club in Cambridge, Maryland which was founded by his Grandfather and Uncle in 1958. Mike has also enjoyed the success of being a 4 year senior member of Pennsylvania's Branch Valley Youth Hunter Education Challenge. This organization has allowed Mike to compete in various shooting style competitions and test his knowledge of hunter safety. Mike was honored when asked by the NRA to sing the National Anthem prior to the start of the National YHEC competitions in 2008 and 2009. In preparation for college, a demo CD was made with Mike singing cover songs originally performed by various country artist. As fate would have it, a copy of the demo CD landed in the hands of Creative Director, Erich Yesse of Single Barrel Publishing. Together, along with Single Barrel's Creative Director, Stan Taylor a collaboration of music, song writing and production began on a new CD project geared exclusively for Mike Short Jr. We are excited to announce the release of Mike's nashville recorded and produced CD titled "BLAME IT ON ME". Influenced by the sounds of Johnny Cash, Tim McGraw and Keith Urban, Mike Short fans can expect a traditional country sound in songs such as "Two Step" and "I Can Dance" to a country rock flair in "This Song's For her" and "Glass Bottles". Not only does Mike show he is a creative writer on his first CD, Mike shows us just how versatile he is with this broad array of southern sound.

Mike Short Jr’s terrific debut CD, “Blame It On Me,” is that rarest of 21st century Country and Western albums: it’s full of genuine country music. The fiddles are pure Nashville, the piano is authentic honky tonk, the guitar tones are patented Fender, and Short’s plaintive, down-home vocals recall classic singers with names like Merle, Garth and Buck. Granted, there’s enough contemporary country-rock sheen to make songs like the up-tempo “Good Guys Wear Black” and “Lady in Waiting” completely radio-ready, but such studio polish can’t hide the deep country underpinnings that make this 12-song collection solid from beginning to end. Bookended by the soulful delivery of opening track, “Who’s to Blame,” and the solemn tones of the final song - the excellent ballad, “Soon I’m Comin’ Home,” Mike Short Jr’s hook-filled “Blame It on Me” CD touches all the bases on an album for listeners who still appreciate true country singers and real country songs.
