I am a musician and composer living in Indianapolis, Indiana, but I grew up mainly in Southern California. My dad was a military officer so we moved around every two or three years and I saw a lot of the US and was exposed to many different kinds of music along the way. I took piano lessons all through childhood into early adulthood and so also had many different music teachers with unique gifts of teaching, and I recieved a good classical music background. Rock & Roll was, of course, a major influence growing up. I danced classical ballet into my twenties and so was also influenced by dance music composers. My spiritual quest also led me to study early music and chant, and I developed a great love for American folk tunes and hymns. I have been fortunate to be ableto work with music, being the music director for a church, and I play harp, piano, and organ. The harp is my third instrument and I do most of my composing for it lately. I find it an especially relaxing and peaceful instrument even to practice, so I hope people enjoy my music and it gives them joy. |
