Artist History
Wonderful Johnson is the newest project from noted rock bassist Tim McGeary. The band's music is full of harmony with solid hooks and an edgy feel. Tim McGeary is a singer/songwriter from Naples, Florida. He has been writing songs for as long as he can remember. When he was 5 years old at his piano lesson he would play the lesson, then something he would write himself. Today Tim McGeary is writing some of his best work. Tim states "I had to get back to my soul, to things that are important to me, my family, and my friends." He works as a flight medic and fire fighter, and as he puts it, "I see people at their worst and at their best when things are at their worst, there are a lot of stories out here and some need to be told." He went to the World Trade Center and worked at ground zero for two weeks right after 9/11. It was a life changing experience working with the other fire fighters and paramedics and hearing their stories of what happened that day and the friends and family that they lost. Wonderful Johnson's songs have been featured in the television shows Glory Days, and Prey as well as in the HBO broadcast movie "Girl Got Moe". He states, " I write everyday because I have to, it is a place for me to vent my emotions and feelings when I see the things at my job and in the world." "Authentic Memphis Samich" is a very impressive adult rock CD, with strong musicianship, including vocals, strong songwriting, and pro production. We were so impressed by this CD, we named Wonderful Johnson our October 2006 band of the month. All of the tracks that we reviewed were very good. We especially enjoy the hook-filled songwriting and harmony-filled vocals in "Connection" and "17 Years Down." When listenting to this CD, bands like The Smitherines and The Bodines, come to mind, as well as solo artists such as Tom Petty. If you enjoy adult rock, you've got to pick up a copy of "Authentic Memphis Samich." |
