If You Want To Stay
So we’ve finished all our coffee and the lights are growing dim
It’s time to think about my offer. Will you come home with me or go to him?
I can’t make that decision for you. The choice is yours alone.
I won’t put any pressure on you. You must decide this on your own.
If you want to stay, my door is open. If you want to stay, please come inside
If you want to stay, my heart is waiting. But if you want to go, thanks for the ride.
I’ve had an interesting evening. The food was great, so was the wine.
If nothing happens with all this feeling. I want you to know that I’ll be fine.
But it’s been hard to share a table with you so near and yet so far.
I don’t know if I’ll be able to resist you once we get inside the car.
I know you’re struggling with your conscience and I don’t want to make things worse.
You’re a battle ground for this conflict. That only makes your honesty a curse.
You have more to lose than I do. I understand your state of mind.
I want you now but I won’t force you. I can’t be selfishly unkind.
You come for love or come for nothing. That’s the fact you have to face.
What happens then is just between us if we obliterate all space.
