» Hermano Frere

Hermano Frere is a song that is from a larger work, written by Andrew Hill after the Twin Towers in NYC were hit.  The larger work, The Day The World Stood Still is a collection of songs Mr. Hill wrote as a result of winning the honor of the Jazzpar Prize - the most prestigious and largest music prize for jazz artists, given in Europe.

He invited me to write a lyric for Hermano Frere, and I accompanied him on the Jazzpar Tour in 2004.  When putting the CD, Chronicles of a Butterfly together to honor Andrew Hill, I had to include his composition!  He was a great musician, composer, and mentor to many.  I love and miss him!  LIsten to more of his music! at www.AndrewHillJazz.c
